Use WordPress, Get more Traffic to Your Website
If you’re running a small business and your website carries a product and you’re burying that product on a page named product_2.html, you’re missing out. With a few simple SEO practices you’ll get more traffic to your website.
Take an evening and install WordPress. Upload a photo of your product, title your post something very basic, like “NAME OF PRODUCT – MODEL,” make sure you include the name of the product and model in your post a few times, then hit publish.
Do this once a day (or more), for every product you’ve got. Round out your WordPress blog with information about your store or business. Make sure you’ve got contact information and basics like street address and the hours that you’re open.
After a few months (oh yea, this doesn’t happen overnight, sort of like starting a business) you should start seeing more traffic to your site from internet searches.
More traffic to your website can’t hurt, right?

Some examples of how using WordPress instead of a flat website can help:
Bike shop: Write a post about every used bike you have in stock. Include your city name and “used bike” in your post a few times. Helpful when people are searching “used bike brooklyn.” Bummed that Craigslist is hurting your used bike sales? Do something better than Craigslist, then! I hate buying bikes from strangers on the internet, I’d rather buy from someone who owns a bike shop.
Music store: Write a post about every guitar pedal you’ve got in stock. Even shoot video of someone playing with each one, or just include an audio clip. Does SamAsh do that? Does Amazon? You might not be able to compete with them on price, but you can “out video” them, right?
Spa: Write a post about every service you provide. Include some photos and testimonials. Write every single day and include your location within the post.
Tattoo shop: Write a post every day with a shot of a new tattoo and a few words from the artist. Be sure to include your location a few times in your post. Helpful when people search for a place to get a tattoo in Philadelphia, PA and they search: “tattoo philadelphia.”
When people are looking for a service they usually include the service and the town/city/location. You can imagine that “bike new york city” is pretty crowded, but I bet “spa denville PA” and “music store selma NC” aren’t. This means you have a better chance of showing up first in search results, which can lead to more traffic to your website.
